DJ Uncle Mike arrives in Brazil and look, my limo is here.
I am cleared by the authorities to have a rockin' time, so I head for the beach.
Fortaleza Brazil is a colorful city located on the beach about 200 miles south of the Equator.
Brazil loves their beaches. And Brazil loves their coconuts.
And Brazil has lot's of beautiful nature.
Everywhere I look it is beautiful and lush, bursting with nature.
Fantastic nature. Sand dunes bursting at the seams.
Sand dunes. Lot's of sand dunes. Lot's of sand. So much that they gotta keep it off the roads.
I love it here. Now let's head over to the beach.
I head over to the beach and the weather is great, a nice fresh ocean breeze keepin' me cool.
Time to rest my head in the sandy comfort of this paradise.
Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh! Relaxation.
After some chillin', it's time to take a walk on the beach and check out Fortaleza.
The city on the beach.
Some nice fresh coconut water to drink while chillin' on the sand as the waves roll in.
The weather's great........
.......with nice ocean views.
The surfers get the last waves of the day.
As the sun sets on the surf.......
I get set for all the rhythm, the ryhthm, the rhythm of the music.
And in Brazil, it's all about the rhythm.
Because Brazil has a whole lotta rhythm. Everywhere & everyone! So let's get the music started !
I was in Fortaleza, Brazil the week of August 17th/22nd, invited to DJ at the Moco' Studio for their big 1 year anniversary party. And that was the week of the "Feiradmusica 2009" or "Mostra de Musica Independente" music conference. (Sort of like the C.M.J. or New Music Seminar). It was an interesting mix of music related folks getting together for 3 days of live band showcases, DJ performances, music industry discussions involving media companies, musical instrument manufacturers, record collectors with Brazillian TV and Radio covering it all. So I was invited to attend the conference while I was there.
This is the booklet that explained the music conference. Unfortunately, I do not understand Portugeese, but everyone here is nice and helped make me understand what was happening. So 'it's no problem'.
I was given a registration badge to get into all the shows and showcases.
And they even listed me in the Feiradmusica 2009 music conference program.
Napoleon, the nice guy at 90.9FM Radio, saw that I came all the way to Brazil from New York City, so he decided to interview me live on the radio.
And DJ Uncle Mike seemed like the only person from New York City attending the Feiradmusica 2009 music conference here in Fortaleza, Brazil.
Here I am being interviewed on the radio by Napoleon, with the help of Milton Rodrigues, owner of Moco' Studio in Fortaleza, Brazil acting as the translator. DJ Uncle Mike representing New York City, live on 90.9FM, Fortaleza Brazil !
After a good radio interview always comes a good photo. Thanks for the real cool interview ! L-R is DJ Uncle Mike, Napoleon from 90.9FM and Milton Rodrigues from Moco' Studio.
And after the radio was finished, the local TV station TV O POVO interviewed me as part of their coverage of the Music Conference.
It was cool to meet a lot of good people in Brazil that were all music minded. I even got to DJ with some local DJ's at a party for the conference. I had fun meeting people like the band 'gilbertos come bacon', Kazane from Kazane Blues and Billy Brazilly, the No Band Man. They were really interested to talk about the music and musicians that they liked and also "the spirit of rock and roll". Brazil has a lot of fantastic musicians and the Brazillian people appreciate musical talent. So the bands that I saw had some killer playing !!!
And after a few days of "schmoozing" thru all the music peeps, it was time to get on up and rock. Everything is set at the club, so 'it's OK' and ready to rock for tonight.
DJ Uncle Mike seen here rockin' some tunes on the stage of Moco' Studio in Fortaleza, Brazil. What a pleasure ! Thanks to everyone who came out to rock and a special thanks to Peggy & Milton, the owners of Moco' Studio, for making my stay so much fun! It was a great time in a beautiful place with excellent people ! Oh, I did learn one word in Portugese: Thank you ! Obrigado!
