Off I go, shlepping my gear and myself half way around the world, from New York City, to DJ on the beach in Vietnam. I am booked to DJ a party at The Nam Hai Resort. This was the nicest place with the nicest people i could ever imagine. I hope you enjoy the photo's as much as i enjoyed the trip.

Now to take off for the long trip half way around the world and 24 hours of flying and city hopping. Off I go from New York to Chicago to Hong Kong to Saigon/Ho Chi Mihn City.

Now for first night in Vietnam, I'm up for a night of bar hopping in Saigon/Ho Chi Mihn City.

I am taken to 'Go 2 Bar' in Saigon/Ho Chi Mihn City (thanks Miri!) where the lazer lights make everything look wild! (photo of DJ Uncle Mike by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

The next day, I fly from Saigon to Danang, in central Vietnam. Then it's a scenic 20 min ride along China Beach.(photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

I arrive at The Nam Hai Resort in Vietnam. Wow, this place is beautiful ! (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

Very calming surroundings relax me as i take a walk around the resort. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

The Nam Hai have a series of pools that looks like they melt into the ocean. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

I couldn't wait to swim in this pool. Totally mellow. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

At about 2am, after the DJ gig was over and everything was quiet, i took a dip in this pool, under the stars. It was so relaxing. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

But first, let's get ready to rock !

So we gotta get ready for the DJ gig on the beach at The Nam Hai Resort in Vietnam. Here's how the day went.

So I am taken into the ancient town of Hoi An, Vietnam, to go to the local sound system rental company and secure the gear for tonight. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

Hoi An, Vietnam is a charming town. The people are very friendly and on the move, usually on two wheels.

Old fashioned hard work is a common sight in Hoi An as people go about their day. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

There is no lack of beautiful old temples in Hoi An. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

Everywhere you turn, there is something interesting to look at. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

Even on the river in Hoi An, there are cool sights. All the boats have eyes. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

The local people in Hoi An, Vietnam, are very friendly, making you feel at home. Look in the boat, the old man with a beard greets me with a friendly 'peace sign' welcome. Thanks dude! (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

Another local man, one with a beard, the one they call Uncle Ho, greets you everywhere you go.

And this man with a beard, the one they call DJ Uncle Mike, wanders the streets in search of the sound company to rent the sound system for tonights gig on the beach.

A funny story: "So the people in Vietnam always wanted to check out my beard. They were facinated with the beard. I asked why, and i was told that there aren't any Vietnamese men with beards, except for Uncle Ho. I ask who's Uncle Ho. They say Ho Chi Mihn is Uncle Ho. And I'm Uncle Mike. So in Vietnam I think that there are only two men with beards, both Uncles. Uncle Ho and Uncle Mike." (oh, and also the dude in the boat)

Hey! Ho! Let's Go!........to get the sound system !

After wandering the streets and taking in the sights, we arrive at Duc Yamaha, the local sound system rental company in Hoi An, Vietnam. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

I am introduced to Mr Duc, the owner of Duc Yamaha in Hoi An. He shows us the sound system are going to rent. It all looks fine. Here we see Mr Duc giving the word to his crew to get the gear to The Han Hai Resort and set it up on the beach for the party. Thank you sir.

"I like this guy. We both didn't speak each others verbal language, English and Vietnamese, but when i pulled out my mixing board to make sure they had the proper connection cables for the sound gear, he took one look, smiled, went into another room and came back with the correct cables, plugged them in and we both smiled. We both spoke the international language of sound gear. So these guys were really cool. And when I took this photo of us and he made a 'funny face', I knew he was good people."

Back to paradise.....

So it's back to the lovely Nam Hai Resort to start to set up for tonights DJ gig on the beach. Take a look down at the end of the pools. The Nam Hai staff are under way getting the beach set up.(photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

And here comes the Duc Yamaha crew with the sound system. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

I gotta tell you that it was about 90 degrees and these guys are lugging very heavy gear onto the beach. Thanks guys ! (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

A nice dip in the pool with some tunes before tonights party. As the soundcheck happens, some guests look on from their relaxing swim. These folks ended up dancing on the beach later in the night. (photo by DJ Uncle Mike 2009)

I flew half way around the world, from New York City to Vietnam, so I am very excited that all the gear works, we got sound boomin' on the beach and that the big party at The Nam Hai Resort is only hours away. (photo by Nam Hai staff for DJ Uncle Mike 2009).

Soundcheck is done, now off to get ready for the party tonight.
